  1. Hi guys. What color are you using as your subsurface color? Usually subsurface color for skin is blood red.

  2. Hey Michelle. Yes I was testing renderman subsurface scattering with a base color of pink, scattering entry tint as pink, scattering exit tint as unsaturated red-orange(peach), and scattering albedo as a darker unsaturated red-orange. Which color should be blood red? The Exit Tint or Scattering Albedo? Thanks Again.

  3. The exit tint should be a saturated red-orange. Our subsurface works differently, but in Renderman Studio, scattering Albedo appears to work more like a mask to alter the ratio of scattering to incident illumination. You could paint a map for this... (say, you want more scattering at the fingertips...) but for initial testing I'd leave it at .5 .5 .5.

Your renders have a strong violet tint... are you using colored shadows? I'd suggest developing your look in a neutral colored lighting environment for now; any strongly colored light or shadow is going to lead you astray during testing.
